2023 Osyooos Eagle Bluff Fire
We were staying in Osoyoos at a suite in Spirit Lodge – a residence above the town on the East side of the lake – when a large fire South of the US Border West of Oroville started early Saturday morning July 29. With a strong northerly wind, the fire blew into Canada around 6 pm, causing the evacuation of 200 Osoyoos properties for several days. Fortunately there were no casualties nor major property losses.
Many of our friends and relatives have asked us about our experience, so this post tells the story as we were able to see it from our suite, from neighbouring roads and viewpoints and from downtown Osoyoos at our Sunday lunch.
