2025 Talus Lodge
My sister and I stayed 4 nights at Talus Lodge in mid-September 2025 with 10 other guests plus 3 guides (Heather, Hanna and Ben) and one cook (another Hanna). At 7,000 feet, this lodge is accessed by a 6 km, 2,000 ft vertical climb from a logging road reached from Kootenay National Park (in a 2.5 hour lodge bus ride from Canmore).
Because the food and guides were good, the group was small AND the lodge had wonderful unimpeded views, I would rank Talus in the top 3 of Canadian Rockies hiking lodges I have known, along with Assiniboine and Lake O'Hara.
September weather was excellent for photography with a mixture of clouds above and below and some blue skies reasonably clear of smoke.
Thanks to all my spontaneous "models" and patient hiking companions.
I hope you enjoy!
