Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in the Evening
We stayed in the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel 4 nights and explored the adjacent mountain with many springs. In the northern part of Yellowstone the dissolved mineral in the hot water is calcite (calcium carbonate). It is white when the water no longer runs over it (depleted of bacteria and algae) and brown, green or red when things are living it.
