Ptarmigan Ridge and Chain Lakes hikes are accessed from Artist's Point parking at 5,400 ft elevation on the east side. Heliotrope Ridge hike is the red path on the west side, accessed by an 80% "paved" logging road in black. The Heliotrope Ridge hike can take adventurous folks to the summit around 10,800 ft.
